Waiting for discharge summary from government hospitals has always been a huge headache for patients. Bringing relief to them, Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 (GMCH-32) will now start a service where the discharge summary of the patients will be sent via email instantly.
Having all the dues cleared at the hospital, the patients will receive the discharge slip on their emails registered at the time of registration.
GMCH-32 has become the first ever government hospital in Chandigarh to provide this service.
Getting a discharge slip in both Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) and Government Multi Speciality Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16 takes more than four hours.
The in-charge of the computerization program in GMCH-32, Sudhir Garg pointed shortage of staff as the reason of not having this service earlier despite having the facility of online registration and appointment.
Under the e-hospital program, GMCH-32 provides online laboratory reports except the radio diagnosis reports like the MRI/CT scan and X-rays. PGIMER also issues online laboratory reports, but has not yet started online appointments.
