It’s just that time of the year. Board exams are already over, competitive exams are almost done, and it’s time to battle it out for the ‘admissions’. And when it come to admissions, the most fiercely fought battle is that of engineering admissions.
Okay! Coming directly to the point, the city is home to three prestigious government engineering colleges: the PEC University of Technology, the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), and the Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET). Each of these colleges is quite popular not only amongst the students from the tri-city, but peeps from all over North India take admission in these colleges.

Here is a point-by-point comparison of the three prestigious engineering institutes of Chandigarh.
PEC University of Technology
PEC is the oldest engineering college in the tri-city, established back in 1953 as an affiliate college of the Panjab University. Owing to the huge popularity and might of the institute, it was declared as an independent, deemed university in the year 2003. PEC is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 engineering colleges of India. Getting a seat here is a hell’s task!

University Institute of Engineering & Technology aka UIET
UIET is the on-campus engineering department of the Panjab University. Established in 2002, the institute has rapidly climbed up the ladder to be one of the best in the region. Taking admission here makes you eligible for all the perks of being the student of a traditional university, and live the classic university life. (Just in case that matters!)
Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology aka CCET
Established in 2002, CCET is a premier engineering college under the UT administration and is affiliated with Panjab University. It runs from a sprawling campus in Sector 26 of the city beautiful. The college is best known for its civil engineering course.
The admissions to all the engineering colleges in Chandigarh are jointly carried out by the Joint Admissions Committee (JAC), Chandigarh. It’s a centralized counseling process, and the cut-offs are high, really.
