PU Gives Students With Disability A Reason To Smile

PU is undoubtedly one of the best institutions in the world. With this initiative, it is certainly going to make a quantum leap as a model institution in the country. What is it? It has approved to increase reservation of persons with disabilities from 3% to 5% for the next academic session.

This quota will be reserved for students with physical, intellectual and mental disabilities. Chronic neurological conditions, blood disorder, and multiple disability categories, each category mentioned here will be given 1% reservation.

A five marks relaxation will also be given to such candidates. Age relaxation has also been provided.

This implementation will lead to the reduction of seats in the general category – from 55.5% to 53.5%.

PU has also said that the person who tries to avail the benefits under disability quota by fraudulent means shall be slapped with a fine of Rs. 1 Lakh or might be imprisoned for two years or could be awarded both.

What Does This Mean For Students

This is indeed an appreciable step taken by PU. The PU syndicate had appointed a committee in this regard. A meeting will be conducted on Nov. 19 where the issue will be discussed in detail. This proposal will truly provide world class to everybody, without any discrimination whatsoever.
