With Covid cases in Chandigarh coming down, the ease of restrictions has come as a relief to people. The Sukhna Lake has been opened for public cheering them a lot more. It is evident from the flood of visitors thronging the lake these days. The overcrowded lake has become a cause of worry to everyone including traders.
The utter disregard to Covid appropriate behaviour by visitors at Sukhna Lake has made the threat of a probable third Covid wave real. The Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17, has requested the UT Administration to close down Sukhna Lake.
Association president Kamaljit Singh Panchhi said, “We need to take extra care because people have started getting careless towards Covid and this can be fatal.”
He said they had suggested the UT to close Sukhna Lake for public for the time being otherwise the traders of the city would have to eventually suffer and would be asked to shut their shops down.
