Mark Your Calendar: Important Dates for JEE Main 2018

CBSE has already released the application form to appear for JEE Main 2018 and all the important dates for the respective exam. The registration procedure has started from December 1, 2017 and students can fill the application form online on the official website.

JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination) is a very popular and prestigious entrance examination conducted every year by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for providing admission to various engineering and architecture programs across India

So, anyone who aspires to pursue a B. Tech/B.E. or a B. Arch. Degree from a renowned university should definitely sit for the exam. The exam is conducted in two papers – Paper 1 for admission to engineering programs & Paper 2 for pursuing an architecture course.

All You Should Know About JEE Main 2018

For JEE Main 2018, the first process is the registration procedure, which has already started from December 1, 2017. Students can apply for this reputed exam till January 1, 2018, after that no application forms will be accepted by CBSE.

While registering for the exam, you have to fill in all the required information and also, you have to upload scanned images of the asked documents, like identity proof, photographs, qualification, etc. In case, somehow, you mess it up, and there is an error in any scanned document, so you have the chance to ‘edit’ it from December 8, 2017 till January 1, 2018. Also, the last date for submission of application fee through online mode is January 2, 2018 and via offline mode it is January 3, 2018.

All the eligible students who have successfully registered for the exam before the last date, will receive their admit cards by the Second week of March, 2018.

JEE Main 2018 Paper 1 offline exam is scheduled to be held on April 8, 2018 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and Paper 2 will be conducted on the same day from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. JEE Main 2018 Paper 1 computer based test will be conducted on April 15 & 16 in the morning shift from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and Paper 2 will be held on the same day from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Once the exam is conducted successfully, official answer key and OMR sheets will be released between April 24, 2018 and April 27, 2018. If you have any doubt about any answer in the official answer key you can challenge the answer key from April 27, 2018. Results for JEE Main 2018 Paper 1 will be declared on April 30, 2018 and All India Ranks will be displayed on the same day. Architecture aspirants will have to wait for one more month for results, as JEE Main 2018 Paper 2 results will be out on May 31, 2018.

Application Form Correction Window

While filling in the application form for JEE Main 2018, if you have committed some mistakes, you will have the chance to correct them in the 3rd week of January, 2018. Even if, you are sure that you have filled the form correctly, still there is no harm in checking it again. It is always good to double check, as one the application form correction window will get closed, you won’t have the chance to correct it. Application forms with incorrect or invalid information will be cancelled.

Admit Cards Availability

The admit cards for JEE Main 2018 will be available on the official website by the second week of March, 2018. The date for availability of admit card is still tentative and may get postponed due to the changes in the eligibility or extension of registration dates.

JEE Main 2018 Admit Card is very is the most important thing to sit for the exam. Students who have successfully registered for the exam, will be able to access and download their respective admit cards online. Students are advised to keep the admit card safely as it will be required at the time of entrance to the examination hall and also during the exam for verification purposes.

The information you filled in the application form, at the time of registration, will be printed on the admit card. Once you get the admit card make sure that everything is correct, including the application number, name, photograph, etc.

In case there is some error in the admit card, you should report it right away to the exam conducting authority and get it corrected.

Exam Dates

Now the most important part of the exam is the exam itself. JEE Main 2018 has two papers, Paper 1 for engineering aspirants and Paper 2 for architecture aspirants. Both the Papers will be conducted on in both online (pen-paper mode) and offline (computer based) mode.

Offline exam for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be conducted on April 8, 2018. Paper 1 will be held in the morning shift, i.e. from 9:30 am to 12:30 am and Paper 2 will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The computer based exam for JEE Main Paper 1 2018 is scheduled for April 15 & 16, 2018 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Online exam for Paper 2 will also be conducted on the same days, but in the evening shift, i.e. from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Official Answer Key & OMR Sheet

Answer key plays a very important role in any exam, as it determines whether you are getting in your dream college or not. It is a short cut which helps you to get estimation about your JEE Main score before the official results are out.

CBSE will release the official answer key and OMR sheet between April 24, 2018 and April 27, 2018. You can match your responses with the correct answer to each question provided in the official answer key. In case you have any doubt about any answer given in the answer key, you also have the authority to challenge it. But be very careful, before submitting your objection, as an objection fee is charged for every answer you challenge.

Once you are sure that you have a proper explanation to your objection, you can submit your objection by April 27, 2018, after that, no objections will be considered. If your objection is found valid, objection fee will be refunded (excluding transaction charges) and remedial actions for the incorrect answer will be applicable to all the candidates, not only the one who objected.

Declaration of Results

After going through the answer key and OMR sheet, you get estimation about your results. But the official results decide your future. So, the official result for JEE Main Paper 1 2018 will be out on April 30, 2018 and results for Paper 2 are expected to be announced on May 31, 2018, though the dates are tentative can be postponed. Cut-off for both the papers of JEE Main 2018 will be released along with the results.

A list of top 2,24,000 candidates will also be released on April 30, 2018. Once the final results are out, the JEE Main 2018 All India Rank (AIR) will also be announced on or before June 30, 2018. Students will be able to check the results online on the official website by logging in to their profile by entering their application number and password.

JEE Advanced

All those who successfully qualify JEE Main exam will attempt for JEE Advanced, the final stage of the exam. On 20 May,2018 this exam will take place in computer based mode only. It will take place as Paper 1 and Paper 2 in two sessions.

Counseling Procedure

The final procedure of JEE Main 2018 is the counseling procedure, where students are finally shortlisted for admission to various institutes under the exam. The process for counseling will commence from June 24, 2018 onwards. The procedure for allotment of seats will be based on All India Ranks (AIR) and will start as soon as the results are declared. There are 3 counseling processes for JEE Main –

  1. JoSAA Counseling (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) organizes combined counseling and seat allotment procedure for all the IITs, NITs, IIITs and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). JoSAA Counseling will start from First week of July, 2018, in which 97 institutes, including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 GFTIs will be participating. Total 36208 seats are offered through JoSAA Counseling.
  2. CSAB NEUT is coordinated for seats reserved in AICTE approved Institutes in India that are not covered under CSAB for the North Eastern States and Union Territories (NEUT).
  3. CSAB SFTI is held for admission in Self-Funded Technical Institutes.
