A high risk pregnancy portal was launched by Haryana, making it the first state to do so. This laudable and much appreciated step has been taken to identify high-risk pregnancy cases(up to the grass-roots level). This portal will also ensure timely referral of expectant mothers to civil hospitals for further management and delivery by specialist doctors.
On Saturday, the State Health Minister, Anil Vij, said that this initiative has been appreciated by both Niti Ayog and Union ministry of health and family welfare. Since November 2017, High Risk Pregnancy Policy has been implemented all across Haryana for identifying these high risk cases.
What Govt. Expects to Achieve With Help of High Risk Pregnancy Portal
- To increase the pace of decline of maternal mortality rate, infant mortality rate and still birth incidence – In high-risk pregnancy cases, Morbidity and mortality are quite high if not managed in time.
- This web application has been designed for tracking every high risk pregnancy case, 42 days, post-delivery. This will ensure that the mother and child, both receive adequate treatment during ante-natal period for healthy outcome of pregnancy.
Amneet P Kumar, Mission Director, National Health Mission said instructions had been issued to all civil surgeons for 100 per cent entry of high risk pregnant cases in the HRP Portal and their management at Civil Hospitals by specialist doctors.
What Else has been Implemented by the Haryana Govt. ?
Haryana Government had also implemented a birth companion strategy. Under this, one female attendant would be allowed in labour room during the delivery. This is a step for –
a) Improving the quality of care in labour rooms and,
b) Improving the maternal and neo-natal outcome and for respectful maternity care.
