The summer capital of British India, Shimla is one of the most popular hill stations. Swathed by cedar, rhododendron, fir and Himalayan oak trees, Shimla played its charm on the British colonisers so much that they elevated this small township. The grandeur of the British era in the 19th century is apparently an influence in its architecture.
Chandigarh residents are always looking for a peaceful getaway during the weekend. Shimla is a popular pick for its heritage buildings and bustling markets.
