COVID-19 Positive GMCH-32 Ward Boy Booked For Hosting Party

A man (30 years) tested positive for COVID-19 novel coronavirus on Saturday in Chandigarh post hosting a party at his residence a few days back. The patient violated both lockdown norms and social distancing guidelines. Expressing deep concern, the act forced Administrator VP Singh Badnore to initiate criminal proceedings against him.

He directed Director General of Police Sanjay Beniwal on the same. The Principal Secretary (Health) Arun Kumar Gupta was also asked to trace all contacts of the patients and ensure their quarantine. 130 such contacts have been identified.

The new case was reported from the Bapu Dham colony. The patient was an employee of the GMCH, Sector 32.

Present Active Cases

Currently, the total number of cases stands at 28 in Chandigarh. The city had been declared a containment zone. As per Adviser Manoj Parida, in the present situation, non-essrntial shops would remain closed till May 3, 2020. After further review of improvement (if any) in the present status of the city, appropriate relaxations would be levied.

According to the goververnment’s directions, commercial establishments, like factories, plants, etc would also not operate. The exemptions for other states could not be given to city residents.
