UT Chandigarh Administrator V P S Badnore, while presiding over a war room meeting today, ordered that vendors in the city will be tested for COVID-19 with Rapid Antigen Test so that they do not become super spreaders. The Municipal Corporation and the Health Department has been directed to ensure it.
The meeting was attended by Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, and DGP Sanjay Beniwal.
Private hospitals and nursing homes roped in too
It has been decided that out of the total beds available in private hospitals and nursing homes, at least 25% should be reserved for COVID patients. Orders for the same will be issued by the Health Department.
Area committees
The UT Administrator directed the MC Commissioner to form various Area Committees, along with Councillors.
This will help the local administration in keeping watch over different areas in ensuring that the residents follow all hygienic practices such as wearing of masks, social distancing, etc.
These will also help in ramping up IEC( Information, Education, Communication) activities.
Hygiene practices
Further, he ordered the Director, Education to ensure that important lessons regarding hygienic practices to be followed to prevent COVID are given to students during online teaching.
PGIMER to create plasma bank
The Administrator has directed PGIMER to create a plasma bank and study whether the COVID patients are suffering from any side/after effects.
