In order to provide easy access of COVID testing facilities to citizens, the Chandigarh administration has allowed private labs located in Chandigarh and approved by ICMR to do COVID testing through RT-PCR test without prescription.
Reiterated previous orders
Earlier the Chandigarh administration issued an order allowing private labs in the city to conduct Corona testing without prescription, but private labs in the city cited ICMR guidelines and refused to conduct without prescription leading to hassles for residents. This led the administration to reiterate its earlier order.
Revised Order
The new order issued on 5th August states that testing will be done on a payment basis as stipulated by Chandigarh administration.
The new order further advises the labs to quote directions from Chandigarh Administration or write Directorate of Health Services in the prescription column.
Only 3 private labs conducting tests
There are only three labs in the city which are conducting COVID tests, namely SRL Diagnostic Laboratory, Atulaya Healthcare and Metropolis Healthcare all situated in Sector 11.
