Chandigarh entered the Lockdown 3.0 phase identifying six containment zones in the city (areas with high incidence of COVID-19 cases), with strict restrictions in these pockets and rest of the city was given relaxations.
Contrary to expectations, the coronavirus spread in the containment zones cannot be contained despite desperate efforts of health and police department. UT Administrator VPS Badnore has sought PGIMER Chandigarh’s advice on how to tackle the problem better.
On Tuesday, he asked PGI to send a team of public health experts to gauge the situation on-field and give recommendations on how to improve the modus-operandi.
The team under Prof J S Thakur from the department of community medicine and school of public health has been assigned to do the task.
PGI’s review report will be submitted by this weekend.
