In the ongoing lockown, which is scheduled to end on May 3, 2020, Chandigarh administration has decided opening of bank branches on alternate days.
However, some important bank operations will be allowed on a day to day basis. These include the following:
- ATM: All ATM operations, bank correspondents, cash in transit/cash replenishment agencies/ IT and engineering support vendors for banks will be operational on daily basis.
- Other bank operations: All controlling offices or back offices, currency chest branches, treasury branches, cheque clearing/processing cells, loan processing departmets, and Forex branches will also open on daily basis. There will be 50 percent staff present here.
The proposal of resuming a minimum number of bank branches had been given by the Lead District Manager. This was keeping in mind the health risk to employees and without causing inconvenience to the public.
