A master app to unlock government services for Chandigarh residents on the mobile phone is slated for launch in a year. As many as 27 services of different departments including power and water bills, booking for community centres or seeking an online building plan approval will be integrated into this single application. Under the Chandigarh Smart City Limited, most government services of different departments belonging to the UT administration and municipal corporation will be consolidated in this project. This will be completed in one year.
What are the administration’s directions?
As per the KK Yadav, Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Smart City Limited, the project aims at the online delivery of the services to citizens. This will ensure transparency and minimize manual intervention.
The senior official has directed the following in this regard:
- Single point of contact
Approved by the head concerned, a single point of contact should be identified by each department. He will be providing data to the agency on priority.
- Steering committee
To monitor progress and for approval of the formulated plan by PwC, a Steering Committee should be formed. This will comprise of additional commissioners, chief architect, officers from NIC and SPIC and the deputy commissioner, Chandigarh.
- Regular meetings
Chandigarh Smart City Limited and Municipal Corporation will regularly overview the project.
Chandigarh Smart City Limited will enable citizens to access the services through their web portal or download the mobile application. It will be easy to even track the status of your application.
e-Sampark Project
Currently, project e-Sampark brings together the services of all the departments under one single umbrella. Electricity and water bills have to be deposited here.
With this project coming up, the e-Sampark app will be integrated into this new app. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been contracted to develop the e-governance service. An agreement has been signed on October 16.
Which services will be included?
Online water and sewerage connections, booking of community or banquet halls, online building plan approvals, e-horticulture services, online grievance management, online permissions and NOC, integration with property tax and integration with Birth and Death registration, etc.
On Wednesday, the CEO held a meeting tabled by all stakeholders including the estate office, chief architect, chief engineer besides other officers of Chandigarh Administration for implementation of the e-governance project.
