Rising number of theft and robbery incidents in the city are a cause of concern. Recently, an incident was caught on camera where 3 youths in their early 20s were trying to steal.
Failed theft bid
On Monday, three miscreants attempted to break-in an ATM of the Axis bank at Subhash Nagar, Mani Majra. The whole incident was caught on camera.
Modus operandi
All the 3 youths wearing masks entered the ATM.
One of the miscreants entered the booth with a brick in his hand and smashed the CCTV cameras at 12:17 AM.
They used the brick on the machine as well as the screen and tried different tricks to open the machine but to no avail.
Unable to get anything, they walked out of the kiosk.
The unsuccessful bid came to light when a few customers went to the booth to withdraw money.
CCTV footage shared
The Chandigarh police have shared the CCTV footage of suspects of the incident with their Panchkula and Mohali counterparts. The police further suspected the miscreants to be from nearby areas.
Western union
Earlier on July 27 in an incident, ₹3 lakh was robbed off from a Western Union branch owner in Sector 27 when he went to a public toilet in the market.
The incident was caught on camera.
