To keep a contingency plan ready in case the number of COVID-19 positive cases rise in UT Chandigarh, the Panjab University authorities will hand over 2 accomodations on Tuesday to the city administration. As per Karamjit Singh, the Registrar, hostel number 10 and hostel for foreign students have been earmarked for the purpose. The establishments will be backup COVID- 19 isolation centres.
The hostel wardens will facilitate keeping the belongings of students in safe custody.
Earlier, the administration decided to make 4 hostels as backup. However, the university spokesperson said that other two hostels will be handed over only if the need arises.
